Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa – Gondar – Simien Mountains National Park
Fly to Gondar on Ethiopian Airlines. Meet with your vehicles and drive to Sankaber, the gateway to the Simien Mountains National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here, you will meet your guides and prepare for the upcoming trek. Overnight camping at Sankaber.
Day 2: Trekking Sankaber to Geech
The trek from Sankaber to Geech (3,600m elevation) will take between 5 to 7 hours. After approximately one and a half hours of walking, you will see the Jinbar River and its massive falls, which you will cross later in the day. After crossing the river, you will ascend for about 2 hours to reach Geech. The scenery is wonderful, and herds of Gelada baboons can be seen along the journey. Overnight camping at Geech.
Day 3: Trekking Geech to Chenek
Trek from Geech to Chenek (3,620m elevation). You will trek along the breathtaking Enatye escarpment, which reaches heights of 4,000 meters, before descending to Chenek. This area is excellent for wildlife, as Walia Ibex and Gelada baboons are routinely spotted along the cliffs. Overnight camping at Chenek.
Day 4: Return to Gondar and Addis Ababa
After breakfast, you will be driven back to Gondar for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the evening, attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
