Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa to Harar
Your journey begins with a flight from Addis Ababa to Dire Dawa. Upon arrival, you will be driven to Harar. Spend the afternoon strolling through the maze-like 16th-century walled city. You will visit the home of Arthur Rimbaud, the renowned French poet who lived here in the 19th century.
Day 2: The Markets and Museums of Harar
Explore the colorful Islamic market and tour the National and Harari museums to learn about the region’s unique heritage. You will also visit the house of Ras Mekonnen, childhood home of Emperor Haile Selassie. In the evening, witness the “Hyena Man” feeding wild hyenas by hand outside the town gates.
Day 3: Harar to Addis Ababa
After a morning visit to the market, drive back to Dire Dawa for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the capital, visit the National Museum to see the skeleton of “Lucy.” The tour concludes with a farewell dinner featuring traditional music and dance from various ethnic groups before your airport transfer.
