Travel Itinerary
Day 1: Addis Ababa to Arba Minch
Fly to Arba Minch and drive to the highland community of the Dorze people. See their unique bamboo houses and learn about the many uses of the “false banana” plant.
Day 2: Lake Chamo and Konso Terraces
Take a boat trip on Lake Chamo to see hippos and crocodiles. Continue to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its ancient stone-walled villages and terraced hillsides.
Day 3: Tsemai Village and Turmi
Visit a Tsemai village or a local tribal market on the way to Turmi. In the afternoon, visit a Hamer village and potentially witness a traditional bull-jumping ceremony.
Day 4: Dassanech Tribe Excursion
Travel to Omorate to visit the Dassanech tribe living along the Omo River. Learn about their clan system and return to Turmi for another night.
Day 5: Jinka and the Ari People
Drive north to Jinka and visit a village of the Ari people, the largest ethnic group in the region. Explore their fertile farmlands and traditional crafts.
Day 6: Mursi Village and Mago National Park
Drive into Mago National Park to visit a Mursi village. Learn about their traditional lip-plates and scarification before visiting the Jinka Museum in the afternoon.
Day 7: Return to Addis Ababa
Fly back to the capital for a city tour. Conclude the trip with a cultural dinner featuring traditional music and dance before your final transfer.
